Three weeks complete!

School is off to a great start!  We've been learning about ourselves, our families, our friends, and our classroom this month! We've been busy exploring in the sensory table, art area, science and math areas, and literacy area.  Pete the cat introduces our question or statement of the day during our first group time.  His questions have been related to what we are learning about this month.  Charting has been introduced during large and small group times this month.

We have had lots of fun learning "All About Me"!  We're looking forward to fall and October!  Stay tuned!

 

Dinosaur Dig to celebrate Coop's 70th Birthday!

Wow did our 4's class have so much fun digging for dinosaur bones today!  Thanks to our wonderful parents for creating the bones and bringing this amazing enrichment to our children!  Coop parents ROCK!!!!

Fun on St. Patrick's Day in the 4's class!

I love when St. Patrick's day falls on one of our classroom days!  We have a naughty leprechaun, Lenny, who visits our classroom and leaves quite a mess!  We set traps but he's very clever and has escaped all of our traps so far!  Enjoy some of the pictures from our day!

Spanish Enrichment at Cooperative Nursery School!

We offer spanish enrichment for each of our classes at Coop!

Cooperative Nursery School Open House!

It's that time of year again!  We're starting enrollment for the 70th school year for the Cooperative Nursery School of Champaign-Urbana!  Visit our unique learning environment for 2 - 5 year olds at one of our open houses on Tuesday February 23 from 6 - 7 p.m. or Friday February 26 from
10-11:30 a.m.  If you prefer, we can schedule a private site visit too! We have classes for 2 year olds on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 3 year olds on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, and 4 and 5 year olds on Monday - Thursday mornings or Monday-Friday mornings.  Our program offers weekly music and spanish enrichment along with our daily arts, science, math, and literacy activities.  The school follows the Creative Curriculum which is a play based investigative curriculum and we use Conscious Discipline in every classroom.  The children of Coop do not need to be potty trained, we are happy to work with them and their family on this important milestone!

Having fun celebrating India's Makar Sankranti Festival!

We are so lucky to have many different cultures enriching our community of children at Coop!  Last week one of my student's mother talked with the class about India's Makar Sankranti festival.  This festival features kites and sesame sweets.  She helped the children make kites and then we went outside to fly them.  It was the perfect day in Illinois for kite flying!  A little breezy and temperatures in the low 40's. The children had a great time!
