Cooperative Nursery School Open House!

It's that time of year again!  We're starting enrollment for the 70th school year for the Cooperative Nursery School of Champaign-Urbana!  Visit our unique learning environment for 2 - 5 year olds at one of our open houses on Tuesday February 23 from 6 - 7 p.m. or Friday February 26 from
10-11:30 a.m.  If you prefer, we can schedule a private site visit too! We have classes for 2 year olds on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 3 year olds on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings, and 4 and 5 year olds on Monday - Thursday mornings or Monday-Friday mornings.  Our program offers weekly music and spanish enrichment along with our daily arts, science, math, and literacy activities.  The school follows the Creative Curriculum which is a play based investigative curriculum and we use Conscious Discipline in every classroom.  The children of Coop do not need to be potty trained, we are happy to work with them and their family on this important milestone!

Having fun celebrating India's Makar Sankranti Festival!

We are so lucky to have many different cultures enriching our community of children at Coop!  Last week one of my student's mother talked with the class about India's Makar Sankranti festival.  This festival features kites and sesame sweets.  She helped the children make kites and then we went outside to fly them.  It was the perfect day in Illinois for kite flying!  A little breezy and temperatures in the low 40's. The children had a great time!

Preschool Open House!

Visit Cooperative Nursery School during one of our Open Houses on Wednesday February 25 from 6-7 p.m. or Friday February 27 from 10 - 11:30 a.m.  Coop has been educating C-U's preschool children since 1946!  We offer half day classes for 2, 3, and 4 year olds.  Classroom activities include art, science, math, and literacy enrichment daily and weekly music and spanish enrichment!  Children do not need to be potty trained for our program.  We are happy to work with parents on this important milestone!

Our Annual Class Play!

Most years my four's class writes a play.  We base the play on a story that we've read during the school year.  Past year's plays have been based on Little Red Riding Hood, The Mitten, Peter and the Wolf to name a few.  This year the children chose "Peter Pan".  They rewrote the story to include several new characters!  We had Peter Pan and Pierre Pan, Mittens the Cat, Martha the talking dog from "Martha Speaks", Baby Mario, Ariel, Stitch, and several others.  The children and their parents came up with their costumes and the children decorated the backdrops.  We practiced and practiced and practiced some more!  The performance was marvelous!

Our performance was followed by an after party!  A great time was had by all!

Preschool Open House!

Please visit the Cooperative Nursery School at our Open House on Thursday February 27, 2014 from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. or Friday February 28, 2014 from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. 

Coop has been educating C-U's preschool children since 1946!  We offer half day classes for 2, 3, and 4 year olds.  Parents have the opportunity to assist in our classrooms and serve on our Board of Directors!  Potty trained is not a requirement of our program.  We will work with families on this very important milestone!  We offer Spanish and music enrichment to our students each week.  Come visit us, you'll love our school!

Hibernation Day in Preschool!

Hibernation Day (aka Pajama Day) has to be one of my favorite days of the year!  The children love it and are so engaged!  I thought I'd share a pictorial story of our day!  Enjoy!
